Consumer Health Data Notice

SousMate uses the allergy and dietary information you choose to provide to make meal recommendations more useful. This notice explains our practices for information that may be treated as consumer health data under applicable law.

  • We do not sell consumer health data.
  • We do not use it for advertising, insurance, employment, or medical diagnosis.
  • You control the information in Settings and can delete your account at any time.

1. Consumer health data we collect

Allergies
The food allergens you select and related substitution requests.
Dietary needs
Dietary restrictions and preferences that may reveal information about health, religion, or lifestyle.
Related requests
Questions, notes, or AI feature messages that you choose to submit about ingredients, allergens, nutrition, or dietary needs.
Derived matches
Recipe match and exclusion results generated from your stated preferences. SousMate does not use this information to infer a medical diagnosis.

2. Sources

We collect consumer health data directly from you when you complete onboarding, update Settings, enter a cooking request, or choose an optional AI-assisted feature. We also generate recipe matching and exclusion results from the information you provide. We do not buy consumer health data from data brokers.

3. Why we collect and use it

We use consumer health data only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Exclude recipes that conflict with the allergens you identify.
  • Rank and personalize recipes using dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Respond to an ingredient or substitution request you initiate.
  • Remember your settings across sessions and supported devices.
  • Secure, troubleshoot, and support these features.
  • Comply with law and respond to valid rights requests.

Allergen filtering is a product aid, not a medical guarantee. Always review packaging and ingredient information yourself, especially for severe allergies.

4. Who receives it

Consumer health data may be processed by:

  • Supabase, which hosts the account database and server functions used to store preferences and generate recommendations.
  • Google Gemini, but only when you separately consent to and use an AI feature that needs allergy or dietary context, such as an allergen substitution request.
  • Professional advisers, authorities, or a corporate transaction counterparty when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety.

These disclosures are for operating SousMate, not advertising. We do not sell consumer health data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Your authorization and choices

You choose whether to add allergy or dietary information. Some personalized filtering will not work without it. Optional AI features require separate consent before relevant context is sent to Google Gemini. You can revoke AI consent in Settings without deleting your allergy profile.

If we ever want to use or disclose consumer health data for a materially different purpose that requires authorization, we will ask first. We will not condition unrelated features on an authorization that is not necessary to provide them.

6. Your rights

Where applicable, you may request to:

  • Confirm whether we collect, use, or disclose your consumer health data.
  • Access the consumer health data associated with your account.
  • Correct information through Settings.
  • Delete consumer health data or your entire account.
  • Withdraw consent for optional AI processing.
  • Appeal a denial of a request.

Submit a request through in-app Settings or email support@sousmate.app. We may verify account ownership before fulfilling a request. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to the decision and writing “Privacy appeal” in the subject line.

7. Retention, security, and deletion

We retain allergy and dietary information while your account is active so SousMate can continue applying your preferences. You may edit it in Settings or delete your account. Account deletion removes this information from our active database, subject to limited protected backups and legal or security records described in the Privacy Policy.

We use access controls, encrypted connections, row-level database security, and provider safeguards designed to protect this information. No system can guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes and contact

We will update this notice before collecting or using consumer health data in a materially different way where required by law. Questions or requests may be sent to support@sousmate.app.
