1. Who we are

SousMate is owned and operated by Dcipher LLC. In this policy, “SousMate,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Dcipher LLC. Dcipher LLC is responsible for deciding how personal information covered by this policy is used.

Questions or privacy requests may be sent to support@sousmate.app.

2. Information we collect

Account
Email address, internal account ID, authentication records, account creation date, and session information. Passwords are processed and hashed by our authentication provider. We do not see or store your plaintext password.
Meal preferences
Dietary restrictions, allergens, disliked ingredients, preferred cuisines, cooking skill, household size, time zone, and the meal schedule you provide. Allergy and dietary information may be considered sensitive or consumer health data in some jurisdictions.
App content
Pantry inventory, meal plans, meal commitments, saved recipes, cooking history, ratings, recipe notes, feature settings, and usage counters.
AI feature content
Messages, text transcripts, recipe context, pantry context, and reports you submit when using an optional AI feature. SousMate sends text transcripts, not stored audio, for voice-assisted inventory and Quick Pick processing.
Subscriptions
Product ID, subscription tier, billing period, purchase and renewal status, expiration date, App Store receipt information, and a user ID linked to your SousMate account. We do not receive or store your full payment card number or CVV.
Device and operations
Push notification token, installation ID, device platform, app and operating system information, time zone, IP address, request timestamps, and limited security, delivery, and error logs generated by our infrastructure.
Communications
The email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide when you contact support or send feedback.

The public SousMate website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. Our hosting infrastructure may process standard request information, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. If we introduce nonessential cookies, we will update this policy and provide any choice required by law.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and secure your account.
  • Build meal plans and match recipes to your schedule, pantry, and preferences.
  • Filter recipes using the allergen and dietary information you provide.
  • Provide cooking help, substitutions, voice parsing, and Quick Pick when enabled.
  • Send reminders and push notifications you choose to receive.
  • Process, restore, and synchronize subscription access.
  • Enforce feature limits and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Respond to support requests, diagnose failures, and maintain the service.
  • Comply with law and protect users, Dcipher LLC, and the public.

Where applicable, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, your consent, legitimate interests in operating and securing SousMate, and compliance with legal obligations as our legal bases for processing.

4. AI features and consent

Ask Chef, Voice Inventory, and Quick Pick use the Google Gemini API. Before using each feature, SousMate asks for feature-specific consent and explains the information that will be sent. You may decline and continue using non-AI parts of the app, or revoke consent later in Settings.

We send only the context needed for the requested feature. Depending on the feature, this may include your typed message or transcript, current recipe, pantry items, dietary restrictions, and allergen profile. We do not intentionally send your email address or plaintext account credentials to Gemini.

SousMate uses Gemini under paid commercial terms. Google states that prompts and responses submitted through paid services are not used to improve its products, though content may be retained for a limited period for abuse monitoring, security, and legal compliance. See the Gemini API data documentation for current details.

5. Payments and subscriptions

Apple processes purchases made through the iOS App Store. RevenueCat helps us validate receipts and synchronize subscription entitlements. Apple controls your payment method and billing relationship. RevenueCat may process a linked app user ID, purchase history, receipt data, product information, device information, and subscription status.

Subscription details are also covered by our Subscription Terms.

6. When we disclose information

We disclose information only as needed to operate SousMate:

  • Supabase for authentication, database hosting, server functions, and operational logs.
  • Apple for App Store billing and Apple Push Notification service.
  • RevenueCat for receipt validation, subscription management, and subscription analytics.
  • Google Gemini for optional AI features after feature-specific consent.
  • Expo for push notification delivery infrastructure.
  • Professional advisers, authorities, or transaction counterparties when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, claims, or a corporate transaction.

We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If Dcipher LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

7. Consumer health data

SousMate uses allergy and dietary information to personalize recipes and reduce unsafe recommendations. We do not use this information for advertising, determine insurance or employment eligibility, or infer a medical diagnosis. Read our Consumer Health Data Notice for categories, uses, disclosures, and rights related to this information.

8. Data retention and deletion

We retain account information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide SousMate, secure the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention varies by record type. Operational security logs are generally retained for a shorter period than account content. Subscription and transaction records may be kept longer where needed for financial, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.

Deleting your account removes your account and user-owned app content from our active database. Limited copies may remain temporarily in protected backups, provider systems, or records we must retain by law. Those copies are isolated from ordinary product use and removed or anonymized according to applicable retention schedules. See Account and Data Deletion for instructions.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access or receive a portable copy of personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Withdraw consent for optional AI processing.
  • Opt out of notifications through the app and device settings.
  • Appeal a decision we make about a privacy request where required by law.

Use Settings in the app for profile changes, AI consent, notifications, and account deletion. For access, portability, or other requests, email support@sousmate.app. We may need to verify that you control the relevant account. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

10. United States state disclosures

The categories collected during the preceding 12 months are described in Section 2. Their sources are you, your device, Apple, RevenueCat, and service operations. We use and disclose them for the business purposes described in Sections 3 through 7.

We have not sold personal information or shared it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not offer a financial incentive in exchange for personal information. Where state law applies, authorized agents may submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification requirements.

11. Security

We use safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network connections, access controls, row-level database security, restricted administrative credentials, and provider security controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

SousMate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

13. International users

Dcipher LLC and its service providers process information in the United States and other countries where providers operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws than your country. Where required, we use legally recognized transfer mechanisms and provide the rights required by local law.

14. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as SousMate changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required. Material changes will not be applied retroactively without consent where consent is legally required.
